Imagining Otherwise

Titled after Lola Olufemi’s “Experiments in Imagining Otherwise”, this lecture series aims to reinforce and value existing knowledge as a radical act. We hope to establish an infrastructure of resistance within spatial and non-spatial discourse through relational solidarity. The series attempts to learn from established practices that shift the focus from European contexts or knowledge systems and instead champions decolonial epistemologies and methodologies. Themes discussed include indigenous systems of knowledge, decarbonisation, land justice, racial justice, and intersectional gender studies. We continue to navigate the space between what is and what could be, weaving through an exploration of identities and the possibility of living otherwise.Imagining Otherwise was organised as part of the AA’s 2022-23 Public Programme, in collaboration with Nana Biamah-Ofusu and Bushra Mohamed.
